- Acetone - Cotton balls or cotton pads - Nail file - Buffer - Cuticle pusher (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prep Your Nails
- File the surface of your gel nail polish to break the seal. - Gently buff the surface of the polish to further weaken it.
2. Apply Acetone
- Soak individual cotton pads or cotton balls in acetone. - Place the soaked cotton pads or balls on each nail.
3. Wrap Your Nails
- Wrap your nails with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. - Secure the foil or wrap tightly around your fingers to create a warm, acetone-filled environment.
4. Wait
- Allow the acetone to dissolve the gel polish for 10-15 minutes. - Check the nails every few minutes to see if the polish is lifting.
5. Remove the Polish
- Use the cuticle pusher or an orange stick to gently scrape off the softened gel polish. - If the polish is still not coming off, re-apply the acetone and wrap your nails for another 5-10 minutes.
6. Buff and File
- Buff the nails lightly to remove any remaining gel polish residue. - File the nails to smooth out any rough edges.
7. Moisturize
- Apply cuticle oil or hand lotion to hydrate your nails and cuticles.
